Best pasta maker 2021 | The Sun UK

MAKING your own fresh pasta from scratch can be wildly satisfying, not to mention it can be healthier and taste better.

We round up some of the best pasta makers you can buy to help you recreate your own favourite Italian recipes.

Supermarkets have shelves full of pasta but making your own comes with extra bragging rights, not to mention you can experiment with different flavours, colours and ingredients.

You could for example use an alternative flour, such as corn or rice, to make gluten and wheat-free versions.

By adding things like carrot or spinach juice instead of water, you can also change the colour of the pasta dough.

And of course, in making your own, you know there are no additives and you can choose the quality of ingredients that suit you.

But unless you're a dab hand with a rolling pin, you’ll need a good pasta maker to make your own lasagne sheets or tagliatelle at home.

What to look for in a pasta maker

At the very least, your pasta maker needs to be able to roll out thin and even sheets of pasta, starting from a wide gauge before slowly making thinner and thinner sheets with each pass.

The roll needs to be smooth, otherwise you’ll end up with sheets of pasta that are uneven.

You should also check whether it comes with a clamp - this will help the machine stay in place on your kitchen counter while in use.

Many also come with additional cutters that will produce different shapes or sizes of pasta.
